Painting Process

I have always loved to draw, and over the years I started moving from pencil and charcoal to watercolors, which are my favorite medium. I recently tried acrylic as well. Being a self taught artist, I am not really sure how I do what I do. I have learned from reading books and viewingwebsites of artists whose work I admire, and then trying to come up with my own interpretations of their methods. My painting is an ever evolving process, and along with many successes, I have failures as well. I just keep trying. For the most part I work from photographs in my studio since I am a very slow and meticulous painter. Sometimes, however, I go out of my comfort zone and paint in other places.
