Harvest Song
For
many years, Marlow held a harvest festival in early October. Part of
the festival was an exhibit by local artists inside Murray Hall, the
former grange hall and now the home of the Marlow Historical Society.
This particular year while I was covering the front table at the art
exhibit, I heard music outside. Wondering what it was, I walked out to
see the Shanty Town Four performing on the front lawn. Of course I took
pictures, knowing it would be a beautiful scene to paint later. It was a
wonderful and unexpected performance that day, and the many stories
connected to the people in this painting make it all the more special now.
