Foxglove
One year my coworker gave me a foxglove plant. I planted it in the front garden. It bloomed for a few years, then it just stopped coming up all together. Then a few summers later, on the far side of the stone wall behind the garden, a foxglove bloomed! It had somehow seeded itself on the other side of the wall. I took a picture of it from which I later painted this tiny 4x6 painting. It never did bloom again.
