Fishing at Black Rock Creek
I took the photo I used for this painting in June 2014, the first time
we camped at Salisbury Beach State Park in Massachusetts. The campground
sits at the turbulent junction of the Merrimack River and Black Rock
Creek, before the Merrimack spills into the Atlantic. The water is
choppy and chaotic, and apparently good for fishing. I actually started
the painting this past June when I went back to Salisbury to camp and
paint for a week on my own. It was a true gift of time to paint, read,
walk the shores of the river and the ocean, paddle in the kayak, and
bring my camera to capture the beauty around me. Perfect!
